Synopsis

Owner of the company, Connor, is what girls call swoony. He’s huge, all man, charming, seductively sweet – just like his liquor – and also best friends with the president. Not to mention, a pain in my side.
As a plus-sized woman, I’ve faced my share of insecurities, yet Connor instills confidence I never knew I had. Our arguments become electric, our flirting off the charts. But he is my boss, I’m his employee, and we’re playing with fire.
I should have stayed away. I should have kept my distance. Because when my past comes back to haunt me, it puts him in danger, and I don’t want them to take Connor down too.
My Thoughts
As you are all aware, when there is a new Samantha Skye book that comes out, I need to get my hands on it. I was lucky enough to be sent the newest book, Connor. This book is part of the Billionaires of Whispers series and is book three in this series. Just like all of her other books, you could treat this like a stand-alone and not read the others. There were mentions of what happened in the past two books, but nothing that would have you lost in what the story was about.
Connor is really a great guy and pretty much from the start I fell in love with him. He right away had heart eyes for Daisy. I also liked the fact that he wanted to build her up and in fact he said once in the book:
“You lost your sparkle for a while, baby girl, but with each day, I see it coming back….you’re too brilliant to live in anyone’s shadow. You need to sparkle bright like a diamond yourself.”
Having a guy willing to build up his girl, shows what type of man he is. he isn’t afraid for his partner to have the spotlight and wants her to be just as successful as he is. I also think this is great because before meeting Connor, she had her confidence taken down a bit by bad past dates and people in general. I love seeing someone blossom into their best self.
It of course would not be a Samantha Skye book if there was not some action and mystery. This action/mystery I could tell kind of what would probably happen but to see it actually unfold still had me at the end of the seat. It also showed how much Connor was going to do for his girl. If you were wondering if there is that that normal third act break up. Well, I have some good news for you. There was NONE! Not even a miscommunication. I loved that.
If you want a bit of spice in the book, Samantha has you covered with that as well. There is plenty of spice, and another thing she does well is not every scene is open door. There are times when its to black. That is great to see when an author knows when to give us the right amount of spice.
I am giving Connor five stars. This book has everything I want from romance to mystery. The spice level was just right with a 3 Chili Peppers. So, you won’t need that cup of milk to tame down the heat in this book.
